Logline: Facing an uncertain future, a man with autism turns to his family’s small craft business as a catalyst for his independence.

Synopsis: When the Scranton family began crafting purses out of old books, they never imagined the small business would become a lifeline for their adult son, Christian, who is on the autism spectrum. Once a child struggling to be understood, his parents set out to create an alternative path for him surrounded by creativity, compassion and fellow artists.

Christian finds comfort and meaning in the rhythms of working alongside his parents. Together, the family reflects on Christian’s path from social isolation to finding his voice. As Kathleen and Dennis grow older, the family must confront the future of the fragile community they’ve created, and who will care for Christian.

Bindings is a heartfelt look at a family who comes together despite uncertainty to help their son build a meaningful life.
